Update

This space has been neglected long enough! I'm embarrassed it's been nearly six months since I've posted. Here are some updates:
Stats
C has lost a total of five teeth and has two more that are loose. The tooth fairy has been busy around here! His yearly check up is on Friday, but according to my measurements he is 4’4” tall. Getting so big!
School
School is almost finished; C's last day is Thursday. He has grown so much this year! His reading is the most impressive: he's testing at an early second grade level. Writing is his least favorite task, mostly because he wants to spell everything correctly and doesn't know how. We are trying to encourage him to write phonetically like his teacher asks. It's a work in progress! His teachers are very quick to compliment his readiness to help others and speak in front of the class. We are so proud of him!
I have been volunteering a lot, either in the classroom or in the library: I've logged over 160 hours this year! Everything is wrapping up; although we may go back the week after school is out to help pack some of the teachers that are moving to the new elementary school. Sights have already been set for next year, and I'm hoping to find a position in the Parent Action Committee (our PTA) where I can utilize my design background. Maybe the yearbook, we'll see!
T-Ball
We have had a blast watching C play t-ball! He really loves it and has improved quite a bit already. His hitting is outstanding, especially now that the coaches have started pitching to the kids. His glove skills are coming along, he's almost over his fear of the ball.
Summer Plans
We are very excited to get our summer vacation started. We will be travelling to New York City in a couple weeks. There are plans to see a lot of the museums and tourist sites, but mostly just enjoy exploring the city.
Camping is another thing on our wish list. We will try to go as often as possible, likely with friends at least a few times. It's always more fun that way!
The kidlet has a couple of fun things coming up as well. He is very interested in learning the Mandarin Chinese language, so he will be taking a two week class later in the summer. Vacation Bible School is also on the agenda for late July.
Garden
I am so excited about our garden plot at the community garden. One of the local churches has organized a commuinty garden for the last three years, free to the public! We are growing a lot of tomatoes (all started from seed!), bell peppers, mini pumpkins, yellow squash, egg plant, soy beans, lettuce and carrots. As you can see from the pictures at the bottom, our plot will be bursting at the seams by August!
Back at home, we have our garden box filled with herbs, a pot with sunflowers and we're growing potatoes in a trash can! (new, of course) I'm searching out sunny spaces in our yard for more garden boxes. We could use a strawberry box! I'd love to try growing broccoli, spinach and maybe asparagus.
