I'm beginning to wonder why I do this to myself. I've volunteered to host a party for MOMS club in December and instead of picking an easy theme and craft, I'm planning a gingerbread house decorating party....for ten children. Crazy, I know. The magnitude of this is starting to sink in.
I have one month to bake and assemble ten mini-gingerbread houses for the kidlets to decorate with a plethera of sugary confections. The kicker... I've never even made a gingerbread house! I know what you're thinking, but I couldn't resist the chance to prove my domestic diva-ism. Not only will my house be clean, but there will be decorations, snacks, a story and a cute ensemble of cookie real estate for the masses to attack with plastic knifes and frosting. I'll even manage to take pictures.
We started baking today. I'm attempting to do the baking in stages and freeze the house pieces. Connor "helped"...it's amazing to me how occupied he can be with a little flour and water. As you can see from the picture, he isn't afraid of the flour! The boy was a mess.
It's going to be a lot of work, but I hope that this becomes a holiday tradition for us. At least until Connor decides it's "not cool" to bake with mommy.

Slow down there Martha jr., You're doing what? Gingerbread for all? I hope in true Martha Style you will have upscale gingerbread Families with 2.5 children to reside in those sweet homes y'all are constructing. My Tip - BUY THE KITS!!!
Okay, I am sooo happy to stay in touch, miss you all loads - can't wait to hear about the merriment in December for MOMS club...I hope you have enough energy left after the party is over to update the rest of us!

Hey, if those gingerbread houses come out good, can you try to fashion one that could house a 36 year old man? I love gingerbread!
